Quick look at the Elecam Explorer Elite 4K Action Camera

Sep 28, 2016

The Elecam Explorer Elite 4K is another action camera claiming to be 4K, like the AMK7000S did.
This model claims to record in 4k at 24fps**.

There's also a Pro version that mainly differs by the addition of a remote and a different sensor (IMX117).

** a notice on the Pro version page specifies:
Video resolution: 4K 24fps (4K is the effect achieved by chip and sensor software optimization, physical hardware resolution is 2880 x 2160P)
This is not mentioned for the Elite 4K but since it has a cheaper (but nevertheless very good) IMX078 sensor paired with the same NTK96660 chipset, I don't see how it could ever be a true 4K (real 4K cameras currently cost much more). Instead this camera should rather be considered as a 1080FHD@60fps, which is still very good for the current price (69.99$ / 63.69€)
